Issue: Why are some tracks available only by downloading an entire album?

A: Some record labels' licensing agreements do not allow individual track downloads from certain albums. We say better all than nothing!

Issue: How many music downloads will I be debited for an album-only download?

A: Album-only downloads debit your account per track the same as if you download each track individually. For example, if the album includes 10 tracks, you will be debited 10 music downloads.

Issue: I need to re-download my tracks, can I?

A: In order to re-download tracks or view what tracks you have downloaded, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your eMusic account.
  2. Click on the Your Profile tab on the homepage.
  3. Click on the Downloads button.
  4. Select the Artists, Albums and Tracks you wish to download from the list provided.
  5. Click on the album you wish to download tracks from.
  6. Click the blue arrow located next to the track name you are interested in.
You can re-download any of your previously downloaded tracks without losing credits as long as they are still available on our site.
 

Issue: I am having problems downloading or installing the Download Manager software.

A: It is possible that you received an incomplete copy of eMusic Download Manager installation file. Please delete the installation file from your desktop and download another copy of the file and attempt your installation again. Once the program has successfully installed you will see a "My eMusic" folder on your computer's desktop.

Issue: How do I resolve the "Server name or address could not be found" message I get when I download files?

A: If you are seeing an error that states "Server name or address could not be found," please make sure your firewall settings are set to allow the eMusic Download Manager to download.

The eMusic Download Manager is not required to download individual tracks from eMusic, but it is required to download a full album in one click and is also required to download audiobooks.

You can temporarily disable/enable the Download Manager at any time.

To disable eMusic Download Manager:

  1. Log in to your eMusic account
  2. Click on the "Your Account" link in the upper right of the eMusic homepage
  3. On the Your Account page, look for the "Download Manager Settings" link on the left
  4. Click on the "Disable eMusic Download Manager" button. If the button says "Enable eMusic Download Manager", then it is already disabled.

Once the Download Manager is disabled, when you attempt to download a track, you will be prompted to save the MP3 file to your computer, just as you would when downloading any other file on the Internet.

Issue: Why do I get a "File: Not Available" message when trying to get songs I queued for download?

A: The files in your Download Manager queue are temporary files that will expire if you do not download your song(s). If you see the error message "File: Not Available", please re-download your track(s). You will not lose download credits.

Issue: My queued songs disappeared from the Download Manager.

A: You will need to re-select the song(s) you had previously queued for download. Please note that once you choose a song for download, you can re-download it without losing credits as long as the song is available at eMusic.

Issue: Is there a Mac OS 9 version of the eMusic Download Manager available?

A: eMusic does provide a Mac OS 9 version of the eMusic Download Manager, however, development has been discontinued and we are not able to provide technical support for this product.

A: eMusic provides a Linux version of the eMusic Download Manager, however, development has been discontinued and we are not able to provide technical support for this product.

 

Issue: How can I download tracks that appear to be suspended in a "Queued" state, and do not download?

A: If you are using eMusic Download Manager 4.0, please do the the following to fix your queued downloads:

  1. Cancel the downloads within the Download Manager
  2. Click on File within the Download Manager
  3. Select the Set Up Wizard
  4. Run the Set Up Wizard
  5. Please try to re-download the track(s) in question

You can re-download any of your previously downloaded tracks without losing credits as long as they are still available on our site.

Why are the EMP files not working on my Download Manager 4.0 ?

A: Log out and Log back into your account. Delete the EMP files that have been saved to your computer and please re-download your track(s).You can re-download any of your previously downloaded tracks without losing credits as long as they are available on our site.

Make sure you have the Download Manager 4.0 installed. Please click here to get the Download Manager 4.0

If you are still experiencing difficulty, please make sure you have JavaScript enabled on your computer

To check that Java Script is enabled, please do the following:

In Safari:

  • Go to Safari preferences
  • Click on Security
  • Make sure that there is a check in the box for JavaScript

In Firefox:

  • Go to Firefox preferences
  • Click on Content
  • Make sure that there is a check in the box for JavaScript

If this does not repair your issue, please close all browser windows and run the Download Manager installer on your desktop and try again.

Issue: How do I set my downloads to automatically sync with my preferred media player using Download Manager 4.0?

A: Please follow the below mentioned instructions to automatically sync your downloads to a preferred media player:

  1. Open the Download Manager
  2. Click on "View" tab
  3. Click on the "Media Sync Options"
  4. Here you can choose your preferred media player and your future downloads will automatically sync to it.

Q: I am using eMusic Remote, should I use the new Download Manager instead?

A: Yes. The new version of the Download Manager includes eMusic Remote’s primary benefit: auto-syncing of your downloads with your favorite music player, including iTunes, WinAmp, and Windows Media Player.

To switch from eMusic Remote to the new DLM please first do a full uninstall of eMusic Remote. Then install the current Download Manager.
